Paintless Dent Repair
At CARCLINIX we utilize paintless dent repair (PDR) for qualifying damage. PDR is fast, efficient and cost effective way of removing dents and dings and/or preparing your car for paint if necessary. See the definition from Wikipedia below to help you determine if PDR is right for you car;
Paintless dent repair (PDR), also known as "paintless dent removal", is a collection of techniques for removing minor dents and dings from the body of a motor vehicle. A wide range of damage can be repaired using PDR; however, usually if there is paint damage, paintless dent repair may be unsuitable.
The most common practical used for PDR is the repair of hail damage, door dings, minor body creases, and minor bumper indentations. The techniques can also be applied to help prepare the damaged panel for paint. Such applications are referred to as "push to paint", or "push for paint".
Limiting factors for a successful repair using paintless dent repair include the flexibility of the paint, and the amount the metal has been stretched by the damage incurred. Hence, often extremely sharp dents and creases may not be repairable - at least not without painting afterward.

- My insurance company has directed me to one of their preferred shops. Am I required to have my car repaired there?
- No! By law the insurance company cannot tell you where to have you car repaired. Many of these "preferred shops" offer the insurance company concessions in exchange for the insurance company's referral of that shop. These concessions are NOT passed on tot he customer. Furthermore, these "preferred shops" often view the insurance company as the customer not the vehicle owner. Your best interest is not always in mind.
- Will my rates go up if I turn in a claim?
- Not always. There are many factors that go into that decision like whether you were at fault in the accident, the cost of the repairs for not only you, but also the claimant, how many years you've been a customer and in that time how many claims you've submitted. The best thing to do is to contact your insurance agent or insurance company.
- There are shops that offer to cover my deductible if I have my car repaired there. Is this legal and how are they able to do it and still make a profit?
- It depends. Assuming you take your car to a shop and the insurance company comes to the shop to write the estimate then issues payment to the shop or to you and the shop. The shop then deviates from the estimate as a way to reduce your out of pocket cost, then this would be considered fraud and is illegal. Shops are able to offset your deductible cost by utilizing aftermarket or generic parts, repair parts that were written to replace or by not repairing damaged area that are not seen. I the long run it's not worth the potential grief.
