"Letter to the General Manager"

"In the over thirty years that I have been buying vehicles, I have never been motivated to write a letter to any dealership until now. As you are aware, there have always been publicly viewed, stereotypical disparaging characteristics associated with the purchase of a new vehicle, such as sales pressure, nominal trade-in values, financing add-ons etc. Nevertheless, I would like to say that your staff has completely eliminated those paradigms.

For several weeks in late October, I had been researching dealerships from southern Virginia to northern Pennsylvania (on the Internet) looking for a new Dodge Ram truck with specific accessories. I finally located one in your inventory. My initial e-mail to your dealership received a courteous response with no sales pressure whatsoever. Upon my arrival, I was met by Mr. Dale Howard who took me directly to the truck I was looking for and allowed me all the time I needed for an inspection and test drive. Later, I spoke with Mr. Bill Welsh who finalized the financial part of the transaction. Both of these individuals were exceptionally courteous, knowledgeable, and most importantly - fair. They indeed conducted themselves as true professionals.

Even after I had purchased the vehicle, your dealership sent me a variety of customer service coupons, which is something I had never before received from any dealership, to include Mercedes! Normally, with most dealerships their motto seems to be based on the phrase, 'out of sight, out of mind'.

The bottom line is this - Your staff made my visit to your dealership an enjoyable experience and will indeed have me returning when I decide to purchase another vehicle. Please give your staff my thanks for their outstanding efforts."

When I moved to Maryland 5 years ago I looked for a "local" garage to service my PT Cruiser. The most conveniently located garage was Reed Brothers Dodge - close to where I worked in King Farm and close to the Metro. I had always used stand-alone shops in the past (having been told that I'd be overcharged at a dealership), so I was skeptical when I dropped my car off the first time.

I don't know when I decided these guys were great - maybe it was 10 minutes after arriving - maybe it was only 5. I've mainly been helped by Tim, but also Jim, and all the rest of the crew in the Service Area provide outstanding customer service - the kind that makes you want to come back and recommend their shop to others.

I'm pleased that it's exactly the same even though the sign now says Reed Brothers Automotive.
